Canning Rules and Regulations

1. Enter all items under the same name, only one item per class.

2. Entries may not be previous ribbon winners.

3. Cash prizes will be given for 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place.

4. All canned foods must be in a standard canning jar sealed with rings.

5. All dehydrated foods must be in glass jars with lid.

6. All entries will be judged on Tuesday, August 24.

7. The Exhibit Hall will be open on Wednesday thru Saturday from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.

​8. All entries must be removed on Sunday, August 29 from 2:00 - 2:30 p.m.

9. All entries left in the Exhibit Hall after 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 29 will be taken to the Fair Office and must be claimed within 30 days.

Scorecard

A. Effectiveness in catching attention (30 points)

 - Appeal, effective use of visual techniques.

 - Originality, effective use of new and interesting ideas or material.


B. Educational value (50 points)

 - Title sign portrays objective of exhibit; one central thought with all parts related to the central thought; coherent arrangement of all parts.

 - Demonstrates approved practices or conveys an educational message; features important phases of the youth club / chapter or technical department; show evidence of work by the student members of the club / chapter or technical department.


C. General appearance (20 points)

 - Attractive arrangement: labels, charts, pictures, objects, and effective lettering, balance and neatness; pleasing background.

 - Correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation.

 - Exhibit is labeled with name of club / chapter or technical department and name of organization.

Rules and Regulations

1. Space for collections exhibit will be 2' x 3'.

2. Each collection must include at least 5 items.

3. Stands for items are encouraged.

4. Only one entry will be accepted from exhibitor for each division.

Department U is for the Junior Division. Department X is for the Senior Division.

3. Articles previously entered at the Tazewell County Fair are ineligible for re-entry.

4. All entries must be made in compliance with the Premium List. Articles must be classified according to the list. Improperly classified articles will not be judged.

5. There will be two youth Departments: Y - Junior ages 13 and under; Z - Senior 14 and older.

​6. Ribbons will be awarded for 1st - 6th place. Money for 1st - 3rd place.

Rules and Regulations

1. A total of 4 entries may be entered in the Art Department by an individual.

2. All work must be original and completed within the last 2 years (no prints).

3. All work must be framed in sturdy frames (no sawtooth hangers) and wired hanging. Do not bring items that are not ready for immediate hanging in the Art Department.

4. Other Considerations: Make provisions to protect items when being handled.

5. In case of only one or two entries in a class, a blue ribbon not mandatory if item is not of top quality.

Rules and Regulations

1. Each exhibit must be educational in nature. It must represent the purpose(s) of a selected and properly titled project, chosen by the group which prepared it.

2. The exhibit must be the work and set up by the student members of the club / chapter or technical department entering the exhibit.

3. Each exhibit space will be limited to 1 1/2 feet. Tables will be provided by the fair committee. The number of exhibit spaces is limited; spaces being reserved on a first come, first serve basis.

4. Three divisions will be judged: (1) 4-H Clubs; (2) Occupational and Technical Clubs; (3) Others.

5. Exhibit awards will be given as follows in each division: 1st - $40; 2nd - $30. 1st place exhibits will receive a plaque.

Horticulture Division Rules

1. All horticulture must have been grown by the exhibitor. Potted plants must have been in the exhibitor's possession for at least three months. Plantings containing multiple plants must have been in the possession of the exhibitor for not less than six weeks. Unless stated, potted plants may have only one plant. African violets may have only a single crown.

2. Exhibitor may make more than one entry per class provided each is a different genus, species, variety, cultivar, type, size, or color.

3. Containers for cut specimens shall be clear, colorless glass and furnished by the exhibitor unless prior arrangements are made.

4. Wedging with clear plastic is permitted and should be inconspicuous. Wedging will be furnished by the exhibitor.

5. A person with disabilities or special needs may choose to submit entries in the category "S" for separate judging.

Rules and Regulations

1. Prints may be made by commercial printers and completed within the last 2 years.

2. No Glass, No Frames will be accepted. Matted prints only. Hangers will be provided.

3. Picture size 8x10 matted to 11x14 or 5x7 matted to 8x10. Black or white mats preferred. 

4. Entry tags must be attached to upper left hand corner (facing picture) on back of each picture in such a fashion that entry tag hangs over the top.

5. Adult and Youth ages will be judged as separate categories.

6. Digitally Enhanced Photos: any photo enhanced or modified from the original (use of a computer). Does not include changing a photo to B&W, unless it has been changed otherwise.

​7. Limit of 3 entries per category, per person.
